Flakes obtained from cleaned and steamed oats, without additives, free from foreign bodies and impurities.

Oat (or oat) flakes are a cereal-based food of vegetable origin; specifically, they are the seeds of the herbaceous plant identified by the binomial nomenclature Avena sativa.

Oat seeds, like other seeds in the same category, have a hard outer shell, which is not digestible by humans, called the bracts or husk or chaff; this shell must be removed to make them edible for humans. In addition, the bran (the last fibrous covering) is almost always separated from the grains and what remains are the purified white seeds.

These are crushed, steamed, rolled into flakes under rollers, stabilised and lightly roasted to become the famous oat flakes.
